Congratulations to Radhika Madhavan

Congratulations to Radhika Madhavan, Ph.D. student in Dr. Steve Potter's lab. Radhika was selected to recieve the Women in science and technology
Faculty for the Future award 2006, which is a strategic partnership with the education sector particularly in emerging economies to encourage women in their pursuit of academic careers in science and technology.
Building on our worldwide network of university relationships, this program provides fellowships and logistical support for advanced graduate study. The long-term goal is to support role models and facilitate an improved gender balance at faculty level so that more young women are attracted into scientific disciplines.
Grant recipients in the Faculty for the Future program are expected to return to their home countries to continue their academic careers. In teaching and research they will act as role models and attract more women to science and engineering in geographic areas with few women in these disciplines.
Grants, provided by the Schlumberger Foundation, will be in the USD 25,000 to 50,000 per year range and may be renewed once. The amount of the grant will depend on the actual costs of study and living in the chosen location.
Congratulations to Mahesh Dodla

Congratulations to Mahesh Dodla, PhD student in Dr. Bellamkonda's lab.
Mahesh was selected to recieve a Student Award for Outstanding Research in the PhD Candidate category from the Society for Biomaterials. This prestigious award is specifically given for "student researchers who have shown outstanding achievement in biomaterials research".
Additionally, Mahesh was one of only two winners for the entire society. His thesis topic has been to develop anisotropic 3D hydrogels for guided tissue regeneration, specifically nerve regeneration. Congratulations Mahesh!
